Today: ROSALINE'S SUITORS by charlie zarb

Ladies and gentlemen, the curtain has come down on the PSF 2020 online Festival

If you missed any of it, please visit our YouTube channel where all content remains available!

PSF2020 is free to all this year when unfortunately there will be no income from ticket sales. A huge thank you to those who have kindly donated already. We continue to welcome any contributions however great or small. Please click on the button to go to our donations page.

A note from the Producers

For obvious reasons PSF2020 is a little different to normal as we move from al fresco to online. Whilst it was very disappointing having to cancel this year’s open-air festival, it has given us the opportunity to venture into new territory.  Early in the year we had, by chance, embarked on a monologue writing competition, Shake it Up, before we even knew what lockdown was or that it would be impossible to stage the Festival as usual. The competition entries have stood us in good stead and we are delighted to present a 10day, online Festival, based around Romeo and Julietwith eighty percent of the content from new and original sources.

We salute our ingenious competition writers for their wit and ingenuity: you have provided a rich seam of talent, and some fascinating insights
into the lesser known characters of the play. Thank you! We are constantly amazed at the ‘infinite variety’ of ideas and styles that Shakespeare can inspire, 400 years on.

Our heartfelt thanks go to our talented and inventive PSF alumni who have risen to the challenge and written, rehearsed over Zoom, performed, directed, filmed and edited.  It has been a truly collaborative adventure in uncharted waters and you have our total admiration, as ever!

We hope that you will forgive any shortcomings you come across as a result of our digital infancy, and the unusual and restrictive creative conditions we found ourselves in. Each day of the Festival, we’ll be uploading a short film onto our website, so do find a few minutes each day between 16th-25th July to sit down and enjoy the diverse and exciting new work created by PSF friends old and new.  There is some Shakespeare too, of course!

The annual summer Petersfield Shakespeare Festival is dedicated to performing entertaining and accessible Shakespeare in a unique and enchanting open-air setting. We look forward to welcoming you for plays and picnics.

Imaginative, energetic, brilliantly acted and staged. Hilarious.
